Together, we will discover the importance of a good cover, what book designers do and how they do it, and we will dive into some actionable best practices that utilize the elements and principles of design, so that you can create a compelling cover on your own. Authors will also learn what makes an effective interior page design that will keep readers engaged. To complete the book design process, Jazmin will outline various printing considerations, production scheduling tips, and marketing insights to help you prepare for a stress-free book launch.

Jazmin Welch (call her Jaz) is the owner of fleck creative studio and book designer at Arsenal Pulp Press. She has a love for the details and revels in the problem solving challenge that each new book poses. Her goal is always to create a compelling and page-turning design that stands out on the bookshelf, suits the target audience and respects each author’s own unique desires. Jaz is a book lover who is here to advocate for your story and impress your readers! She holds an Honours Bachelor of Design (Ryerson University) and Master of Publishing (Simon Fraser University). Jaz is a dog mom with a love of fresh ocean air.
